Winter break is almost over.

Luca spent it the way he does everything. Quietly. Early mornings in the water when nobody else was up, afternoons on the rocks, evenings looking at the lights and not saying much about any of it. He came home with a tan and one thing he still hasn’t told anyone on the team.

Cole sent one text. Luca answered it. Jaxon sent four and got one back. Luca called Eli once, and Eli didn’t pick up. That’s the whole record of the break, and Luca is fine with that. He always is.

Cole and Eli know where he was. Neither of them knows who he was with.

Break ends. The team walks back into the aquatics center on October 1 (October 29 for Captain’s Circle), and everything that happened before it walks in with them.
